Fabrication of solar tree
Solar tree fabrication includes its installation, wiring connections and setting up
the load for its run. Fabrication of the solar tree involves the following steps:
⦿ Developing the design of the solar tree structure
⦿ Preparing the foundation base
⦿ Fixing the structure on the foundation base
⦿ Building the solar tree structure and mounting the branches
⦿ Connecting all the solar panel
⦿ Preparing the SLD & Circuit board
⦿ Wiring Connection
⦿ Connecting the load
Developing the design of the solar tree structure:-
The design of the structure is first developed in Auto CAD to have accuracy
and provide ease in developing the system.
Preparing the foundation base:-
Base is prepared using grit and sand and is cemented to increase its
strength so that it can hold the solar tree firmly. The size of the base is 45
cm* 45 cm and is made in square shape with height 250mm from the ground level.
Fixing the structure on the foundation base:-
L-type nut and bolts are used for fixing the solar tree structure on to the
base so that they remain properly fixed.
Building the solar tree structure & Mounting the branches:-
Solar tree structure is built using iron in long cylindrical shape of about 6ft tall and is coated with aluminium paint to prevent it from damage. It has been then welded to be fixed on the base. The branches of the solar tree are curved and placed at an angle facing the south so that they do not cast shadow over one another. Structure consists of twelve branches each having one solar module of 10Wp.
Connecting all the solar Panels:-
Solar panels mounted on the tree are all connected in parallel to get the
desired output current from the tree. This is done with the help of the
combiner box which has multiple inputs and single output. Output from
the individual modules is sent to the combiner box where they are
connected in parallel and single output from the combiner box is sent to
the charge controller using MC4 connectors.
Preparing the SLD diagram & Circuit Board:-
The circuit board has been prepared by installing all the components on
the board and connecting them as per single line diagram.
Wiring Connections :-
After all the components are set up as desired, wiring connection is done
based on the wiring diagram on the circuit board as well as within the
system, starting from the combiner box fixed on the solar tree structure
up to the load.

Connecting the load:-
After all the connection is made in the system, college sign board with the
LED flashlight is connected which is to be run through solar power.

The below figure shows the working of the load during its operation.
