National Solar Mission :-
The National Solar Mission (NSM) is an initiative of the Government of India and State Governments to promote solar power. This mission is also known as Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (PJNNSM) This mission inaugurated by Former Prime Minister Dr. Man Mohan Singh in 2010 with the target of 20 GW Renewable Power Generation.by 2022. This target latter increased By Narendra Modi Government in 2015 with the target of 100 GW by 2022. This total programme comes under Ministry of New And Renewable Energy (MNRE) Government of India.
Objective :-
The objective of the National Solar Mission (NSM) is to be established by Indian Government as a global leader in Solar Energy, During formation of this policy conditions for its implementation across the country as well as possible. Under the this original plan, the Government aimed to achieve a total installed solar capacity of 20 GW by 2022. This was proposed to be achieved in three phase.
- The first phase comprised the period from 2010 to 2013,the first year of the 12th five-year plan. Targets were set as 1.4 GW in the first phase
- The second phase extended up to 2017,Second year target were set as 11–15 GW by the end of the second phase
- And third phase would have been the 13th five-year plan (2017–22),and 22 GW by the end of the third phase in 2022.

The Government again revised the target from 20 GW to 100 GW on 1 July 2015. To reach 100 GW by 2022,To complete this mission, it was divided into three phase.under this targeted given fallowing capacity in various type.
Year Wise Targets :-
The year wise target of renewable power generation is mention in below table. To meet the scaled up target of 100,000 MW, MNRE has proposed to achieve it through 60 GW of large and medium scale solar projects, and 40 GW through rooftop solar projects.
